So last Thursday I was busy being a John Deere freak-a-zoid; mowing down weeds and cleaningupthe pasture…all the while allergies killing me. I started my usual 6am day with barn chores and then a workout and then off to the prementioned duties; having enough of not breathing, a scratchy throat, watery eyes and constant tissue blowing I decided to head out on my quad solo for some alone time and fresh air.
As I approached our beach area; which BTW was my intended destination…to check for loafer trash and debris; I had the freakest thing happen…my quad locked up and before I knew it flipped me over, (sorta like getting the rug pulled from under your feet) knocking me into some river rocks and then a second time pushing me into and under the clay banks and into the river. It happened so quickly that before I knew it I was underwater with my quad coming over the top of my head. Mind you, I am not a very good swimmer so being under water was not the best place at this time and point. I managed with the help of God to have the sense to push the quad from atop of my head, dive down and around and make it to shore. I then grabbed some rocks and pushed myself upward and eventually caught me breath.
After making it to shore I sat there for maybe 20 seconds as I cleared my lungs and watched my quad begin to float up river. I got up totally drenched and persued after my quad when reality hit me and said, hey dummy go home and get Rick. I was about a 1/4 mile away from home, no cellphone, no gun and totally at this point in disbelief of what had just occured.
Once I got home I told Rick what happened not even believing the words as they fell from my mouth…to make a long story short I am alive, with some very sore bones and some nasty bruises. We managed to fish the quad out the river and wench it uphill.
Four days later I still can not believe that I managed to get myself out of such a horrific ordeal.
Here are some pics of my knees which were both banged up from the quad and the rocks. I also have bruises on my left shoulder, left hip and a very sore lower right back…the pain seems to come on strong when I sit, walk or breathe!

In closing, thank you Lord for saving me and helping me to make it back to shore…this is the second time in my 36 years that I have come close to drowning…first time was at 2 years of age…my papa had to pull me out of the water at miles square park!
