No Comments I created an account with PhotoWorkShop.com to help get me motivated and active in photography again. One of the assignments, “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall”; Photographing Children is the first workshop that I am participating in.
To let everyone in on a little insider Ani lifestyle…I basically live way out in the boonies, (needless to say this workshop thing is going to be a challenge) so I don’t get much interaction with people or much of a chance to practice portrait photography; with that said, my submission was from a photo taken last December when I had the unique opportunity to photograph “Santa in Sultan“.
This really shy lil girl wanted no part the Santa photo op so I instead caught here by surprise as Mommy was taking her away.

I’ll try and find time to post more photos and keep the blog updated with my progress as I attempt further participation

No Comments I came to a realization that this winter has really gotten me off track with riding and spending time on the trails and establishing a stronger bond between my two buddies Indy and Rain.

Mind you I do spend alot of time with them but our riding outside of the property has become less than is the norm.
So the goal for this spring/summer: ride at least 4 times a week and complete my level 1 Parelli. (K.I.S.S)

No Comments Found this one going through some photos I’d taken and not yet converted from RAW…I added a vignette and some grain just to go with the dreary winter feel…I’m not quite sure what it is I like about it, but after deciding in my head and then debating with my decision, I agreed to disagree about not adding it here.

No Comments This is an oldie but going through some digital files tonight I thought this was worthy of posting since I’ve been a slacker of late. Hopefully I will get outta this rut soon and produce some better eye candy for your viewing pleasure.

No Comments Not sure what happened but Jackie has not been home in more than 24 hours which is not the norm…if he is out at night hunting he is always waiting at the front door for me at 6am to let him in…today this was not the case.
During the night Dante barked and patrolled the property diligently and now as I write this 24 hours passed, Jackie has still not returned home.
I write this post with a heavy heart knowing that my lil companion of morning chores to the barn, my hunter of rodents and buddy thoughout the day while working has fallen victim to the cries of coyotes last eve.
Jackie, I will truly miss you as you were the greatest ever!

No Comments Well the weekend was a beautiful one with lots of sunshine and warmth…50′s and under; I didn’t get motivated enough to take pictures which is really a sad and lame thing not to do. Rick and I did get lots of work done around the house so it might have been worth it…naw, should have taken the camera and snapped some photos
I have been reading and enjoying the latest book from Joe McNally entitled, “The Moment it Clicks”, what an insightful and amazingly simplistic yet must have technical book on getting the little things out of a photo! This is definately a book I will keep nearby for reference and inspiration.
I did manage the last few days to take some snaps of things I wandered upon through the days gone by, for instance this of the eclipse from the other night:

and then shot from tonight of a rare winter rainbow, yet very faint towards the back pasture beaming into the mountains:
, the rainbow is very faint towards the center of the photograph, maybe if I had emerged from my office sooner a better capture would have done it’s beauty more justice.
Until next time,
Ciao bellas!

No Comments These two photos of Indy & Rain were taken today as I was testing out my Canon 75-300 zoom lens. I figured I should get used to taking photos more often with the Canon xTi since I might have to send in my Nikon D70 for a way overdue cleaning. I’ve had it for about 4 years now and it’s been through a heck of alot of different environments. Although I like the Canon xTi, I’m still having sepereation anxiety of just thinking it wont be around for a few weeks
Ok on to the photos of my two favorite horses ever:
