Our Beloved Dante

Dante

Dante

This morning at 11:00am our beloved German Shepherd, Dante lost a battle of rapid deterioration with cancer. Dr Wendt tried to revive him but after four days of what was a mystery to us, he died of cardiac arrest. The cancer deteriorated his renal organs and his body just could not handle the shock and trauma of what it was being put through.

Dante never showed any signs of failing health until just three days ago when he stopped eating. We had thought he went out back to the river and got into the spawning salmon but the case was he was dealing perhaps sometime with this dibilatating cancer, a cancer that eventually took a strong, playful, loving and vibrant 6 year old German Shepherd that we loved, he was our son, our kid, our protector and our friend…he will be forever missed and loved!

Dante, Dante!

Dante

Dante

A couple weeks ago I mentioned to Rick that Dante was losing alot of weight so we began feeding him twice a day and he was doing fine.

Sunday he went on the trails with me and Indy and we ran and had a blast. But 2 1/2 days ago he stopped eating and became lethargic
I was goin out earlier today for a ride with Indy and asked him to come along which he does not ever need any encouragement, he could barely walk down the road; So,
I called Rick to pick him up half way down the road, he did, and then took him to the vet.
Doc just called and said he has a massive growth in his chest, arthritis and severe disc damage.
Now we have to wait for blood test to find out if the growth in his chest is cancerous or not.
Doc also said that he is supposed to have muscle growth along the side of the top bump of the cranium that dogs have on their head and he has nothing there. I put on his winter blanket tonight and gave felt his hind leg quarters and chest and it was pretty much skin and bones
So, I’m not sure what is going on…I’m just praying for the best!

Cory’s Senior Portrait Shoot

Cory's Senior Pics

Cory

For the first time ever I did a senior photo shoot for my friend Debbie and her son Cory…he is very shy, plus he hates taking pictures…I originally wanted him and Debbie to come over to our place by the river as I had scouted out several locations but time constraints and a not so eager subject led us to a few shots around the family farm; oh yeah and then the rain clouds came overhead so we called it quits real quick!

As you can guess from the above I didnt get too many shots but we did get a couple of decent shots, very handsome kid, wish he wasnt so camera shy…he did relax and he played along well when I asked him to try some different poses…

Here are a few of the ones I liked: [click thumbnails for larger versions]

Dad & Vera

Vera, Dad and Rick

Vera, Dad and Rick

This past week my father in law and his wife Vera came for a visit…we had such a great time visiting and catching up on old times. I cant beleive I hadn’t seen my father in law and Vera in almost 3 YEARS!

Man how time fly’s…

On the second day of Dad and Vera’s visit, we decided to get in the car and head up the 2 HWY in search of whatever…a lake, a short hike, maybe even in hopes of finding Sasquatch!

As we drove along the beautiful 2 HWY, we laughed and joked, reminisced and tried to outwit each other’s humor; we Trones’ have a very sarcastic sense of humor…so if you can dish it out you better make sure you can take it as well :)

After a quick stop at the Ranger’s Station we decided  to pick up some lunch for our drive through beautiful Western, WA.

Sky Deli

The good folks at the deli where we stopped for sandwiches to enjoy and feast upon, informed us about our now planned destination…Lake Elizabeth.

So, after our freshly made sandwiches were prepared, we all piled into the rental car and headed to our picnic area…we were a short drive away but it always seems longer when you head for a new place untraveled.

The drive up the logging road was filed with memories and stories of the past and as we continued to laugh and past time carrynig on we came upon a small but beautiful lake named Elizabeth.

Rick and Dad grabbed fishing poles and Vera and I grabbed sandwiches and off we went. Tuki was also in tow…the trail was muddy and slippery and it was cold so we found a spot in the sun and sat down to feast upon our sandwiches.

Afterwards we walked for a lil bit and saw that the trail was just not what we came prepared for, so Vera and I went back to the car with Tuki and we did some girl talk while Rick and Dad braved the cold and dropped a few lines in the lake.

The drive home was amazing, we saw huge waterfalls and the many colors of autumn highlighted by casted shadows and rays of light coming through the trees as evening approached.  What a great way to spend the day with loved ones!

Bringing Angst Back!

Ani's Journ[e]yal

Today I was going through some old files and came across the only journal saved from my angst teenage years. I’m not sure why I saved this particular one and burned the numerous others but I have it and I’ve decided to open it up here on my blog.

I’ve decided to start a new feature and explore my writings and to reflect upon times past in a positive way…nostalgia is a good thing, RIGHT?

It’s actually going to be fun and interesting looking back at this…from the torn and doodled pages, to the rantings and sometimes confusing and cluttered type…I feel blessed to have graduated from those sad and lonely dark times and wannabe the next female Kurt Cobain/AIC/Pearl Jam rockstar never wanting to make it past the age of 22, not sure of the significance but that was then…and THIS is NOW!

This could get interesting…stay tuned!

Oh, and before I forget, I’m not changing or correcting any grammar or structure…basically it’s going too be very raw so forgive my misspellings and imperfections :P
