Comments Off I woke up at 5:45 am to head out for morning chores and happened upon this 4″ Mothra just outside the front door.
Not sure why the Lord made this guy so big, but it sure does creep me out having a Jurassic looking moth just outside on the front porch.
Zoinks Scooby!

No Comments This photograph of a young eagle was taken in 05′ when we were still living on Quadra Island. I was walking the path in between our pace and Ron’s trailer and saw this guy laying in the leaves and moss.
At first I didnt think it was alive, until he rolled his eyes and looked up at me. My first instinct was to cover it up in my jacket and bring it inside because I figured it was injured and I wanted to make sure he would be ok.
Then my second thought turned out to be the best one. I phoned my neighbor Chantal…she and John take care of the lodge on Steep Island and she said she would phone the appropriate authorities to come over and handle the situation.
So off I went back outside with my camera to sit and wait with my new friend as help was on the way. Well I got a photo of this guy but the phone rang and I had to go inside to accept the call; by the time I returned, my little friend had flown away and I never found out why he lay so still for an hour beneath the trees.
Enjoy Bellas!

No Comments I brought this photo into photoshop and applied a couple filters and really liked how it turned out. From the bend in Bernie’s neck to the gentle way the rider is holding the reins…one of my favorites for sure.

No Comments If you remember “Tuki the Chicken Herder” video then you’ll remember just how much he loved his “Chick Chicks”. Well without much details the “Chick Chicks” have since passed and even though he visits the coop often in hopes that he will see his beloved “Chick Chicks” we decide it was time to tear it down and rebuild.
So this afternoon Rick went out with the Kubota and started the process.
As Tuki laid sound asleep on his pillow he was awakened by the sounds of wood cracking/breaking and wire being stretched and ripped, producing screeching and ear shreeking noises.
I let him outside and he immediately ran over to investigate. He was shaking and yelping for his little “Chick Chicks”. I ran out after him and picked him up trying to console him.
After calming him down I took him inside and promised that once the coop was rebuilt we would get him some more “Chick Chicks”.
I cant wait til he meets the new “Chick Chicks”. Watch the video of Tuki herding his “Chick Chicks”!

No Comments We had a hornet come into the house this afternoon and Tuwa and Rio, [particularly Rio] went nuts.
I never got to see if they actually caught the little bugger; I’m assuming they did because we are now without hornets indoors.

No Comments Rick, myself and the pups went for a hike yesterday around our river loop here on the property and coincidently ran across the Saddle & Paddle tour provided by the Stillwater Ranch.
Here are the two photos I managed to take from the overlook:
Note to self take longer telephoto lens on hike from now on!
I’ve add these to the proofs are as well so if you are in the photo above you can send it as an ecard or download a small version.

No Comments The following pictures were taken yesterday during and after our ride up the mountain. We ran into Pa & Chris, my good friends and neighbors.
