Say Hello to My Lil Friend…A Nikon D2X

So I sold my Bowflex tread-climber and a few other things around Rickani Ranch in order to purchase a second camera body but not just any camera…a Nikon D2X. I know what your thinking but the D800 is available and the D4 yada yada yada…

Well I cant afford either and ever since the D2X was released years ago, actually about the time I got my D70, I’ve always had a fondness for it and have long to covet one of my very own.

So low and behold I did some research, searched high and low and found a really nice refurbished one on Amazon for sale. It arrived today and I was so excited that I hated I had to charge the battery and wait to use it.

Well the battery is charged, so I  just snapped some frames inside and then ran downstairs and snapped a few more and viola, here they are straight out of the camera.

I’ve spent little less than an hour with this beast and I love the feel, I don’t find that the controls are hard to reach; in fact my crooked little fingers can and do, reach and operate them just fine. I love the weight of it, probably because I’m use to my D90 with the battery grip, even still the D2X is slightly bigger and heavier, but I love the feel of sinking my grubby little paws onto it.

I don’t mind the ISO limitations, I feel I can get past it…another reason for wanting the D2X is so that I can really force myself to use what I have to work with and not just leave it all up to the camera. I want to learn how to think, read light so I can learn to manage the speed, aperture and ISO….how else am I going to learn?!

I have to say, this camera is truly in mint condition, not a scratch, scuff mark and only 13276 shutter actuations…I’m really looking forward to taking this out on a hike, maybe tomorrow if time permits and really see what it I can do with it ;P

stay tuned I’m sure I will have more images from my new little friend to share!
