Cimarron – Training day!

February 23rd, 2010, posted in Horses

This is Cimarron, Indy and Rain’s new little brother. We got him a little over 3 weeks ago. [The reason for lack of posts BTW]

He is going to be 3 years old in April. Since we brought him home he has been an absolute joy.

I’ve given him his first bath, wormed him and taught him that it is ok to play with humans. He pretty much is greenier than the spring grass here in WA, but so eager to please.

We have been working with the little guy as much as possible between all the chores, loose ends, and multiple projects/jobs I need to get caught up on. Today I spent about 2 1/2 hours with him playing the seven games by Pat Parelli and just teaching to accept all the crazy stuff I want him to learn. He really is a smart, patient and pretty much a solid little guy.

I measured him on Saturday and he is just 14 hands and around 750lbs.

After our training I decided to take him for alittle walk through the trails and he was not phased by anything.

Below is a pic from today.

Horses and Mules Packing Clinic

January 20th, 2010, posted in Horses, Photography

This past weekend Stillwater Ranch and Aaron from Icicle Outfitters held their 1st packing clinic. The event was a great one for the first time around. We had a great bunch of folks attending and we learned a lot of important applications, we ate really good food and most importantly we laughed and made some new friends.

Slideshow below…enjoy Bellas!

Christmas in Leavenworth

December 27th, 2009, posted in Horses, Photography

Aaron from Icicle Outfitters invited Barb and Dalton from the Stillwater Ranch and Rick and I to spend Christmas in Leavenworth. We got a personal sleigh ride/driving lesson and then had the best dinner inside a huge heated wall tent.

It had to be one of the most unique nd amazing experiences we’ve ever had.
