I was going through some old stuff for inspiration and improvement…I came across an old photo of my nephew Victor (this from a phtoshoot of their band Bullets and Betrayal) and decided to mess around with some pixels…:)

It is not my best but I liked my idea of keeping the background a seperate style…smudged, painted and spot removal tool used but definately not abused.

As always…click the tiny photo for the “El Grande” version :P

I received my upgrade for Painter in the mail last week and finally got to play with all the tasty new features. I still have a long way to go but the image to the left is a quick little sample of what came about from my first time using Painter X.

I also purchased a DVD done by Fay Sirkis a while back so now I can finally use all the new brushes included with it since upgrading. It really is an insighful DVD with lots of great tutorials…a couple of my other favorite tutorials or DVDs are from Susi Lawson and Brad Buttry. All a huge wealth of information, enjoy!

Charcoals, pencils and other stuff.

I’m hoping to get more tutorials done so I can really get a better feeling and knowledge of how the brushes and well basically everything syncs together.

It’s stormy and wet and miserable; but it is a good time to be creative, I’ve been working on the image for about 2 1/2 days now. Done in Painter IX using pencils and charcoal over digital photo of my Indy from last winter.

I’m really enjoying the way the tablet is starting to feel and how much easier the workflow is coming along.

I’ve been working today on a long time goal of mine which is to create digital paintings using Corel Painter. I’ve had the software forever and a few tutorial workbooks but just have not put any time or efforts into getting in further than the purchases…anywho’s to make this short and simple, here is my first attempt at painting digitally.

I used a mix of watercolors and chalk and charcoal brushes…I now I have to work on my stroke patterns but I was pretty happy with this first attempt.
