This photograph of a young eagle was taken in 05′ when we were still living on Quadra Island. I was walking the path in between our pace and Ron’s trailer and saw this guy laying in the leaves and moss.

At first I didnt think it was alive, until he rolled his eyes and looked up at me. My first instinct was to cover it up in my jacket and bring it inside because I figured it was injured and I wanted to make sure he would be ok.

Then my second thought turned out to be the best one. I phoned my neighbor Chantal…she and John take care of the lodge on Steep Island and she said she would phone the appropriate authorities to come over and handle the situation.

So off I went back outside with my camera to sit and wait with my new friend as help was on the way. Well I got a photo of this guy but the phone rang and I had to go inside to accept the call; by the time I returned, my little friend had flown away and I never found out why he lay so still for an hour beneath the trees.
